World Music Portal: (A non-profit network of World Music sites and information.)
College Music Journal Magazine: (New World Music Top 10 Charts each week, as well as weekly World Music reviews by James Lien and World Music recording industry news.)
African Music: (Cool African music site with lots of info on African music and artists.)
All Africa: (Africa New Online, they post nearly 400 news stories daily from more than 60 African publications in both English and Francais. Select a country and you will be shown the latest news on that nation, most of which never finds its way to Western news media.)
Africa, by specific country; "http://www.sas.upenn.edu/African_Studies/Country_Specific/(enter name of specific country of interest).html": (Gives current, relatively detailed thumbnail information on all African countries; recent political history and leaders; form of government; ethnic groups and languages; economic situation and leading exports; and much more. An excellent source for anyone wanting to become better acquainted with any African country.)
Nabu.com News Site: (News, information and commentary about the entire world, they like to say "All news on one site").
Alternative News Source: (The alternative online source for world news. Another interesting news source that clearly recognizes the need for news that does not double as propaganda.)
Lonley Planet: (Extensive information on any destination on the planet. News, politics, economics, maps, pictures, etc.)
Caribbean Blues: (News and information on every country in the Caribbean. A free weekly e-mail newsletter is available.)
Latin News: (Latin News and Latin American Newsletters. An intriguing source of political and economic information about Latin America. Has a free weekly e-mail update.)
Ear Drum: (24/7 World Music radio station.)
AfroPop Worldwide: (AfroPop Worldwide NPR radio show. A long-running wekly radio show on participating NPR stations that has become an institution and almost its own little industry. The site lists the subject matter of each weekly broadcast, stations carrying the shows, news, background information, etc.)
Rhythm Music Magazine: (a somewhat cluttered site, self-described as a center for "World Music, arts and culture". Encompasses all World Music, not just the African Diaspora.)
"Information for Africa": (features a lot of information on African countries, the main thrust of which seems to be investment opportunities and potential in Africa.)
Roots & Rhythm: (Buy rare and popular roots music on-line. World and Rhythm & Blues mail order catalogue. Great stuff!)
Downhome Music: World Music and Rhythm & Blues retail store in El Cerrito CA. Great place!)
Village Music: (A truly great record store which specialises in American roots music but which also features some World Music. This store is an experience all record-lovers should have, but one that cannot be replicated online. Be patient, this is a very slow-loading site.)
Latin American News: (Online news sources for Latin American news. These are usually publications originating in Latin American countries, and the information is not always in English.)
Roots World eZine: (Reviews, articles on music from Africa, the Americas, Europa, Asia, the Pacific. Reviews go back ten years. Has a bookstore as well. Although it scope is the entire World, in practice it seems to somewhat limited and not a particularly compelling site. What informaiton is available requires some patience and digging.)
World Music Land: (Loads of World Music info, much of it in languages other than English, especially Francais)
Madunia: (Nederlands website that promotes African music, or at least African artists based in the Nederlands.)
Halcyon Music: (A World Music information list that apparently has not been updated since 1996, which means that much of the information is considerably outdated.)
World Entertainment Network/Niche Music: (Features a World Music section.)
